Guadalupe School was once again present at the CanSat national final, which celebrated its 10th anniversary this year.
In 10 editions, this was our 9th participation, this time with team – GSAT – .
The mission went quite well. However, due to the microprocessor reboot caused by the ejection of the satellite from inside the rocket, we were only able to receive video in the last seconds of the flight. In any case, the satellite we designed, built, launched and recovered is viable and can transmit video in real time to a ground station, analysing it with an algorithm that estimates the state of vegetation health. Its applications are vast, particularly in the agricultural sector, but also in fire detection or space missions.
The performance of our students throughout the 5 days of competition was flawless. Catarina Dias (10th grade), Miguel Vinhas (11th grade), Sara Costa (11th grade), Guilherme Viana (11th grade), Constança Quaresma (11th grade) and Diogo Carvalho (12th grade) represented our School at a level that elevates it, distinguishes it and gives it prestige among all those who had the privilege of watching them work. This performance earned them the distinction of Most Professional Team, which makes us very proud and with a deep sense of accomplishment.
Besides this distinction for the GSAT team, also the teacher Dário Zabumba was distinguished, in a way to honour all teachers for the work they develop with their students.
The acquired skills that this project allowed, from a technical point of view, but not only, equip us with tools for life. This is an experience of and for life, which marks students (and teachers) and defines academic and professional paths.
Congratulations to you all!
