10 Minutes of Reading

Reading takes us on a journey into new and unknown worlds, makes us dream and helps us to think and write better. Therefore, the Portuguese Department of the school decided to implement a successful project in all teaching cycles: “Livro de Mochila” (Backpack Book).

It is a project that produces effects across all subjects and in all areas, promoting the enjoyment of reading, fluency and interpretation of different text types. The school year has officially started: all students carry a book of their choice in their school bag and will have at least 10 minutes of individual reading time in every Portuguese class.

Reading will always be the best way of visiting new worlds, seeking evasions, dreaming, projecting and flying.

Reading will always be a magical and essential way of life!

We want to offer multiple spaces where reading is possible and essential to school and personal life. The epicentre of this world of reading is our Library, an open space set in a place easy to access and open at all times. Throughout the day, the school community can frequent this space dedicated to knowledge, reading, writing or researching for assignments. Writers or books by Portuguese, Portuguese-speaking or universal authors are regularly highlighted, with recommended reading for the general public or a specific age group.
